We duly received from you three cables in respect of the detention of this vessel by the Authorities at your Port.

On receipt of the first I wrote the Secretary of State for the Colonies and got his reply. Copies of both enclosed.

In accordance with our letter to the Colonial Secretary we annex you account for 5 days detention at 4d per ton gross register tons. I am not certain whether she was detained 4 or 5 days. You of course can vary the account in accordance with the facts and deliver the same to the party by whose authority the vessel was illegally detained.

We wait your reply as measures are being taken to enforce the claim.
